Here is a comprehensive, authoritative, and up-to-date textbook of human physiology that emphasizes fundamental mechanisms and concepts. One of the leading texts in its field, PHYSIOLOGY is known for its direct, scientific approach to the subject matter. Its well-respected authors use an organ system-based approach to clearly describe all of the mechanisms that control and regulate bodily function. This 5th Edition features a greatly increased emphasis on molecular biology and genetic diseases. And, the Nervous System section has been completely reorganized in accordance with the latest trends in medical education.

Summary: Perfect Conditions
Rating: 5
the book was came in excellent conditions, the student consult does works, the content is not hard to digest... so its perfect..
Summary: Caveat: LOADED with errors!
Rating: 2
Very disappointing. I understand that no textbook is 'perfect,' but this text has an extraordinary amount of errors. I found 3 errors in a single paragraph. I have dabbled in a few of the chapters on various subjects and there have been errors in every one. I've actually started a list noting the errors and plan to write a chastising letter to the editors. What are they getting paid for if not to EDIT?? It is practically negligent, in my opinion to publish such shoddy work. Some of the errors may be extremely confusing to a student who has never studied physiology before. So be careful! And I would recommend some other book...the other commentators seem to have some good suggestions.
Summary: A terrible physiology text
Rating: 1
I am a first year med student, and this book was recommended as our primary physio text. The problem is, it is terrible. The writing is excessively verbose and poorly descriptive. The topical considerations are poorly chosen and poorly organized. And perhaps most annoying is the atrociousness of the illustrations: they are few, poorly drawn, consist of only three colors. This is a big point, since many of us find visual representations to be an important tool for understanding and remembering physiology concepts.
I have finally given up on this text and chosen to go with the newer edition of a text I used in undergrad. I highly recommend Human Anatomy and Physiology by Marieb, which succeeds where this physio text fails, and even has great clinical correlations, disease states, and anatomy and embryology correlations.Human Anatomy & Physiology (7th Edition) It is more expensive, but worth every penny.
Summary: Great textbook
Rating: 4
An excellent general physiology resource for medical students, scientists who are new to physiology and other with a general interest. Save yourself the money and buy the regular version, STUDENT CONSULT is at best a glorified beta of a product that is not useful.
Summary: mistakes
Rating: 2
I am currently a medical student, and Physiology is on our required texts list. It's an awful read. Very dry, very dense. Difficult to keep interested from one scattered clinical tidbit to the next. PLUS, there were multiple mistakes in just the few chapters I made myself go through. Thinking about petitioning for a new text listing for next year's class...
